Our 5 Favorite Florida Campgrounds!

As the snowbirds begin to flock to Florida for some warmth and sunshine, we thought now would be a great time to share with you our 5 favorite but lesser known Florida campgrounds! Did you know some of Florida's best campgrounds are county park campgrounds?!? Check out some of Jeff and I's faves:

Kelly Park - This is where our love for camping began! This county park is an amazing gem that has gone under the radar until the last couple of years. If you love the Florida Springs, this campground if for you! With a gorgeous spring views, an effervescent headspring, abundant wildlife, hiking trails and turpentine trees, this campground truly gives you the feeling of being in the "Garden of Eden." Kelly Park offers electric and water sites, with a dump station on property, and an updated bathhouse.

Moss Park - This campground is another gem that is located within a county park. If you love tall pines, hiking trails, lake access, wildlife and campfires, Moss Park will not disappoint! Located in Orange County, Florida, you will be close to Disney and all of the Orlando area attractions. Moss Park offers electric and water sites, with a dump station on property, and a well maintained bathhouse and wash station.

Periwinkle Park - Located directly on Sanibel Island, this little gem is the island's ONLY campground! If the beautiful blue green waters of the Gulf of Mexico calls you, this campground is for you. Beach access is just a short one-half mile walk or bike ride from Periwinkle Park. And, did we mention that Captiva Island is just a ten minute drive up the road? You won't want to miss the magical sunsets of Captiva Island. Periwinkle Park offers full hook ups, a laundry facility, a bath house, and much more!

The Resort at Canopy Oaks - If you like resort style living, you will love The Resort at Canopy Oaks! From the beautiful entrance to the amazing resort style pool, you will feel like you just landed in the lap of luxury...only it's a campground! If you like amenities, this place has got them... a clubhouse, playground, fitness center, restaurant, ice cream shop, basketball courts, shuffleboard, catch and release fishing, petting zoo, craft cottage, salon/spa, tiki bar with entertainment, golf cart rentals, and an adorable country store for all the things you forgot to bring!

Payne's Prairie State Park - Located near Gainesville, Florida, this state park and campground is one of Florida's most unique state parks! Why you ask? Well, it's not everyday you come across across wild bison and wild horses in a Florida state park. That's right, these are just some of the wildlife you will see on your stay at one of Florida's most unique state parks. Complete with a beautiful visitor's center and lookout tower, you will be amazed at the expansive prairie views! The campground is located within the state park and its umbrella is a canopy of sprawling live oaks and Spanish moss. As with most Florida state parks, Payne's Prairie offers electric and water sites, with a dump station on property, as well as a well maintained bathhouse.
